This item is NEEDED with an open element air filter on the Evo X.
The BR Evo X Carbon Fiber Shield is some of the highest quality work and carbon fiber you will find. The company that produces these for us also does work for the NHRA, Indy cars, Cart, Champ cars and air planes to just name a couple things. The part that you will recieve is NOT some cheap flimsy Ebay quality carbon fiber.
When an open element filter is installed on the X there is a "stumble" issue when using the A/C. Once the engine temperature goes up the A/C fan will kick on. When this happens the hot air is forced into the air filter.
When that occurs the mass air flow sensor tries to correct itself for the extra/hot air being forced in and it can not as the air temperature changes too quickly and there is to much air being taken in.
This shield prevents that from occuring as it blocks the extra hot air from entering the system.
